Welcome Letter!- New President
Welcome!
For those of you that may not know me -let me start with a quick intro. - I'm Jennifer Polixenni Brankin and the new ASMP TUCSON chapter president. If I haven't met you yet I look forward to meeting you at one of our next events, I look forward to stepping into this role and putting into practice all the wonderful skills I learnt from being vice president for Amy Blackburn. (Thank you Amy!) OK back to business!!-
Here at ASMP TUCSON we are striving to bring you the latest information consolidated in a bi-monthly newsletter. Please, let me know if there is something else you want to see here or any suggestions for future events. This is our chapter and I need you to help me and the board create events that you're passionate about attending and getting involved with. Feel free to email me if you have any suggestions or feedback.
To highlight a few things in this newsletter I want to draw your attention to volunteer opportunities with Habitat for Humanity - they are looking for volunteer photographers for this weekend! There are some fun and interesting events that are coming up in the next few weeks. Take a peek at the newly re-designed ASMP TUCSON website and learn about another great benefit of being an ASMP member!
I look forward to seeing you at our next event and learning to fill these large shoes over the coming year!
Cheers!

New Chapter Websitel
Just in case you haven't had a chance to see it - ASMP TUCSON has a new website! I'd like to give a big shout out and make you aware that the new website wouldn't be up and running if it wasn't for RIchard Wagner - Thank you, thank you! The website is a lot easier to update and looks pretty slick, we want it to support you by being an additional online location to represent your business and give you important information about up-and-coming events that are happening at the local level of ASMP. Take a moment and check it out www.asmptucson.org
As with any new website if you encounter any issues or bugs with it please email Richard our wonderful webmaster. rich@wildnaturephotos.com
Don't forget that with the new re-design if you haven't already - please update your image sizes in the member gallery 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels tall, sRGB and JPG format. You can also submit a few strips for the home page image 624 pixels x 227 pixels and you can either break it up into several images or as one full frame crop. You can email them to our wonderful webmaster.
Networking Reception: POP ART!
Canned Art? Sound interesting? In celebration of the Andy Warhol exhibit this month, we are bringing a new, POP ART idea to Tucson’s First Fridays!
Andy Warhol was a revolutionary artist that took ordinary things like the Campbell soup label and added his own swing to it to make it art! So why can’t we do the same?? First Fridays would like to combine Andy’s Campbell soup art into our networking reception and we need your help!
First Fridays is Tucson’s most dynamic monthly networking social fundraiser that combines business with the latest in pop culture, art, music and charity. This monthly fundraiser benefits the non-profit, Tucson Young Professionals www.tucsonyoungprofessionals.com/, a group of business and community leaders focused on the promotion, attraction and retention of young professionals in Tucson area. Help TYP reach their goal of providing members with professional development through scholarships to Greater Tucson Leadership, Tucson Ambassadors and conferences by coming out to First Fridays, March 5, 2010 at 8:00pm
TUCSON MUSEUM OF ART.
This is a great cross networking opportunity and a chance to get ASMP Tucson on people's radar as a place to look for trusted and talented photographers. We will have a table with info as well as our banner at the event and it would be great to have attendance from ASMP at the event.
$20 to attend the event but we have negotiated a special rate of $5 entry for ASMP MEMBERS. Please contact Jennifer Brankin for more info on tickets to the event 720 273 8285.
You can find information on the event both at our local ASMP site and www.typfirstfridays.com
