SNAP! Orlando: We Need Your Prints
ASMP Central Florida (professional & student) members have an opportunity to hang their work in the photography festival SNAP! Orlando coming on May 20, 2010. SNAP! Orlando is participating in Orlando's Third Thursday in May, and the show will be focused solely on photography.
We are trying to gauge how many members in the Central Florida chapter are interested in hanging their work in this show. SNAP! Orlando is expecting between 2,000 to 3,000 people to come through during this weekend event. The main gallery showing will be held that Thursday night, and is free to all members. The only out-of-pocket costs will be for your printing, framing, and mounting. All photographs can be placed on sale during this event. 100% of the sale will go back to the photographer with no percentage going to the gallery. Participants will be responsible for delivery, installation, and pick-up of their photographs that weekend.
Please message Betsy Hansen (betsy@betsyhansen.com) or Steven Benson (sb@stevenbensonphoto.com) with your expressed interest in this event, how many photographs you want to display, and the dimensions of the images.
Call for Members: We Need YOU!
Your new & improved ASMP Central Florida chapter is currently looking for members of all types to participate and be more active in their own community. We currently have 2 members in our Orlando sec of the board and 4 members in our Tampa sec of the board. We are looking to grow both of these sections of the Central Florida Chapter. We need your help and participation in order to put on events in your area. We currently need help in these areas:
Board Participation- We are of course always looking for people to join and participate with us on the board. Board participates means sitting in on board monthly/bi-monthly meetings. These will be held in Orlando or Tampa depending on where you are located. And responding with your opinions to emails about upcoming events, the newsletter, and website.
Event Scheduling- We are always in need of people to help us put events together for the members. You do not have to be on the board for this. This mostly includes phone calls and emails to the speaker, event location, chair rental company (if needed), and food places.
Hands on Labor at Events- If you cannot dedicate your time to helping us plan an event or be on the Orlando board, we’d love to at least see you at the events helping us with things such as: door greeter/check in, chair rental help, food pick-up/delivery, etc.
Please contact Betsy Hansen (Orlando) at studio@betsyhansen.com or Dave Monroe (Tampa) dm@davidmonroephotography.com if you would like to start giving a helping hand back to your chapter!
Volunteer for a Good Cause: Photographer Opportunities
Boggy Creek Camp Shoot
Looking for 3-5 photographers for Saturday, July 10th & Saturday, July 31st. Camp Shoots are shot outdoors, in natural light, no backdrops. No families - children only, grouped by age and, I think, sex. Typically 20 children per group. The photographer may shoot just one group of children, or more than one depending on their location. The Camp tells us which outdoor locations to set up in (depending on the childrens' schedule that morning) which may include lakeside, cabin porch, poolside, gym, etc. For more info about the camp, please visit http://www.boggycreek.org/2006/home.asp.
Flashes of Hope
Looking for photographers for Thursday August 5th at Florida Hospital, Wednesday September 8th at Arnold Palmer, and Monday December 13that Florida Hospital. Volunteer a few hours of your time on one of these days to provide families with terminally ill children with family portraits. This is potentially the only professional family photo these families will ever have of themselves. Hospital shoots require lights and a backdrop. Typically 6-10 families will visit throughout the morning. For more info, please visit http://www.flashesofhope.org/.
If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact Nancy Deluca at nancy@fptravel.com or 1-800-399-0221.
