Networking Reception: POP ART!

Networking Reception: POP ART!

Canned Art? Sound interesting? In celebration of the Andy Warhol exhibit this month, we are bringing a new, POP ART idea to Tucson’s First Fridays!

Andy Warhol was a revolutionary artist that took ordinary things like the Campbell soup label and added his own swing to it to make it art! So why can’t we do the same?? First Fridays would like to combine Andy’s Campbell soup art into our networking reception and we need your help!

First Fridays is Tucson’s most dynamic monthly networking social fundraiser that combines business with the latest in pop culture, art, music and charity. This monthly fundraiser benefits the non-profit, Tucson Young Professionals www.tucsonyoungprofessionals.com/, a group of business and community leaders focused on the promotion, attraction and retention of young professionals in Tucson area. Help TYP reach their goal of providing members with professional development through scholarships to Greater Tucson Leadership, Tucson Ambassadors and conferences by coming out to First Fridays, March 5, 2010 at 8:00pm  TUCSON MUSEUM OF ART.

This is a great cross networking opportunity and a chance to get ASMP Tucson on people's radar as a place to look for trusted and talented photographers. We will have a table with info as well as our banner at the event and it would be great to have attendance from ASMP at the event.

$20 to attend the event but we have negotiated a special rate of $5 entry for ASMP MEMBERS. Please contact Jennifer Brankin for more info on tickets to the event 720 273 8285.

You can find information on the event both at our local ASMP site and www.typfirstfridays.com

ASMP T-SHIRT GALLERY

In 2009 we started to sell our very own ASMP TUCSON shirts and I came up with this idea that we should do a "where in the world is the ASMP-Tucson shirt?"  photo gallery. I want a collection of our Tucson photographers in action all over the globe in our shirts! So please, if you wear your shirt on your next assignment please be sure to snap yourself and email me so we can post it in our gallery! studio@polixenni.com

PixOasis

There are so many benefits of being an ASMP member and here is another one that you may not know about!

PixOasis is a service for photographers to deliver digital high-res images over the web without FTP. You can batch upload to secure servers all your high- and low-res files — TIFF, JPEG, PSD files with layers and RAW files up to 275 megs — for clients to view, edit online, and download right from your galleries. You can personalize your galleries by displaying your logo in the web header. Unlike FTP where only files names are visible, PixOasis presents your images as thumbnail and intermediate sized images with a simple user interface. You control how long your links stay active and can allow or disallow client downloading of your high-res images.

Try it out: Sign up for a free PixOasis 50-MB account, with easy paid upgrades to larger capacity.

With each paid upgrade, ASMP Members are offered special promotional plans that include 25% more quota space than the standard plans. Please enter the promotional code ASMP33613 when signing up. Current PixOasis members can contact support@pixoasis.com to modify their accounts and take advantage of this special ASMP promotion.

Habitat needs Photographers

Habitat for Humanity Needs Volunteer Photographers

We’ve got another event coming up where we could really use a couple of photographers.

We’re raising the walls on our second home in Marana on Feb. 20th starting at 7:30am going until just after lunch at 1:30pm. This home is being completely funded by one group, the Catholic Daughters, which is a rarity indeed! They’re flying representatives from all over the country to attend and we would really like to capture the day with some of your amazing photographs.

We’re flexible, so if you could come out at any time during the day that would be great – and, of course, you’re welcome to join us for lunch.

Please let me know if you’re available.

Thank you so much for all of your support of Habitat!

Tucson Festival of Books

Tucson Festival of Books

Volunteer Photographers and Videographers

March 13th & 14th  UA campus

Volunteer  for 2 hours slots of your time over the weekend festival to help local non-profit literacy programs.

For more info on the book festival please go to tucsonfestivalofbooks.com/

images will be used for the website and to help promote the event to the community next year. There will be a downloading station on site so all you have to do is shoot, name files (so we can identify who's images they are) and then you're job is done! There are others who have volunteered to help with the editing!

Credit for work will be given and you get a free Festival volunteer shirt. The festival is also in need of 300 volunteers to help drive authors around, assist with seating and helping with the days activities- so if you want a break from shooting there are other ways you can help out too.

To sign up as a volunteer please contact Video and Photo co-ordinator  Jennifer Polixenni Brankin studio@polixenni.com
